Dr. Lavina N. Mistry is an accomplished academician, researcher, and technology educator with over 10 years of teaching experience in Information Technology, Computer Applications, Data Science, and Emerging Technologies. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the MCA Department at DES’s Navinchandra Mehta Institute of Technology and Development (NMITD), Mumbai.
She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Pacific Academy of Higher Education and Research University, Udaipur, an MCA from the University of Mumbai, and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.
Dr. Mistry has actively contributed to academic governance and curriculum development. She has served as a member of the University of Mumbai syllabus-setting committees for several MCA subjects, including Advanced Database Management Systems, Ethical Hacking, Ethical Hacking Lab, User Interface Lab, and Soft Skills Development.
Her teaching and research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Educational Data Mining, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Digital Marketing, Business Analytics, Database Management Systems, User Experience Design, and Emerging Technologies.
Dr. Mistry has published and presented numerous research papers in reputed national and international conferences and journals. Her notable achievements include:
- Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Data Science and Intelligent Network Computing (NIT Raipur, 2025).
- Best Research Paper Award for “Systematic Review of Student Performance using Academic Score” at NCRD’s Sterling Institute of Management Studies.(2024)
- Best Research Paper Award at the International Conference on Internet of Things, Next Generation Network and Cloud Computing (ICINC).(2017)
She is the holder of a Design Patent titled “Talent Acquisition System” and a Copyright for “AceHire: The Future of Campus Recruitment,” a machine learning-based smart recruitment platform developed as part of her doctoral research.
Dr. Mistry serves as the NPTEL SPOC for the Local Chapter at NMITD and was recognized with the Aspirant Active Local Chapter Award by NPTEL for her contribution to promoting online learning and certification among students.
Her commitment to teaching excellence, research innovation, student mentoring, and outcome-based education continues to contribute significantly to the academic and professional development of students.
