DES’s NMITD, CIMDR & JSKBS had organized a guest session on “Stree Shakti – Women Entrepreneurs” virtually on 15thMay 2021 for Management (MMS/MBA/PGDM), and Technology (MCA) students for unleashing their personal & professional effectiveness and initiating the students’ journey towards being an effective global leader.
Smt. Meenal Mohadikar Mam is the First-Generation Entrepreneur and Proprietor of Swaroop Agencies and Anand Trade Development Services. She is the Founder President of Aamhi Udyogini Prathisthan, which is an NGO working for empowering thousands of women entrepreneurs from Maharashtra and Goa. Smt. Meenal Mohadikar Mam is also the Vice President of Maharashtra Economic Development Council. She is also the First and Only President, so far in the 90 years of history of Maharashtra Chamber of commerce, Industry & Agriculture. Meenal Mohadikar Mam’s Educational Qualification include a B.Sc. (Microbiology) and D.M. L. T. She is also associated in various capacities with Management Institutes like PTVA and IES.
She started Anand Trade Development Services which organizes trade exhibition by name ‘Consumers Shoppee’, ‘Festival Shoppee’ all over Maharashtra for last 26 years . A variety of consumer products, right from pin to piano are made available to buyer under one roof. These exhibitions are carried out throughout the year in various parts of Maharashtra & Goa.

On account of National Stress Awareness Day, ICC had organized, an online session on the challenges of Mental Health Issues faced by the youth. The Resource Person, was a renowned Counselling Psychologist and Career Counsellor, Founder of Mindz Infinity, Ms. Anuradha Kamesh. The basic objective of this session.
Dr. Anuradha Kamesh Madam stressed on Different Psychological Issues faced during Covid19; She spoke about Social Anxiety about FOMO ( Fear of Missing Out) v/s JOMO ( Joy of Missing Out) which is a practice amongst youth.
She stressed about Living in the Present Moment and Mindfulness. She also gave us a demonstration of Mindful meditation and some relaxing techniques.
The Objectives of the online session was as follows:
- Recognize the importance of mental health among youngsters, especially during the
Pandemic, and measures to tackle them. - Suggest a few relaxing techniques and mindful meditation.
The session was very interactive and students were pouring questions for a long time.

DES’ NMITD Organizes “THE DISCUSSION ON MENTAL HEALTH OF WOMEN”

The women development cell at DES’s NMITD organized a discussion and talk on the mental health of women on the occasion of Women’s Day on 8th March 2020. The motivational talk was given by Dr. Ujjwala Deshmukh. She is a practicing gynecologist with over 29 years of experience and Chapter Secretary (Nagpur), Indian Menopause Society and authored various books on similar topics.
The Objectives of the workshop are as follows:
- Recognize the importance of mental health among women.
- Suggest a few stress management techniques.
- Help deal with multi-tasking positively and manage time.

Report of “Seminar on Swami Vivekananda” (on occasion of National Youth Day 2020)

National Youth Day is observed on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda every year on 12th January. This year on 17th January 2020, to mark the occasion of 157th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanda, a one day seminar was organized at Navinchandra Mehta Institute of Technology and Development (NMITD) for its MCA and MMS students. The eminent resource persons were Ms. Sujata Dalvi and Mrs Swati Kulkarni from Vivekanda Kendra, Dadar.
Objective of the workshop:
- Create awareness about Yoga among students and faculty members.
- Inculcate Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts in students.
Outcome of the workshop:
Ms Sujata Dalvi is a jivanvrati at Vivekanda Kendra’s Kanyakumari Shakha. Whereas Mrs. Swati Kularni is an accomplished Yoga instructor training youth in Yoga across Maharashtra through Vivekanda Kendra.
Both MCA and MMS students participated with vigor and engagement throughout the interactive seminar . The thoughts and ideals of Swami Vivekananda, his history and contributions to India and World Religions was uncovered. The relevance of Swamiji’s thoughts particularly so in todays troubled times was felt by each and every-one who attended this seminar.
Around 70 MCA and MMS students and 5 faculty members participated in the seminar.
The introduction of the resource persons was given by Mr. Pratik A. Desai, Asst. Professor, MCA Dept at NMITD. Vote of Thanks was offered by Mr. Girish Jadhav, Asst. Prof., MMS Dept.

Report on “Project Trishna-Mahaparinirvan Din” 2019-20

Outcome of the event:
“Chaitya Bhoomi” which is a memorial of the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. It began to be known as Chaitya Bhoomi after Ambedkar was cremated there after his death on 6 December 1956. Chaitya Bhoomi is a revered place of pilgrimage for his followers and Buddhists in the World. Every year on 6th December, pilgrims from all across India come to pay their tribute to Dr. Ambedkar. DES’s NMITD is situated near Chaitya Bhoomi, as a special initiative, student volunteers distributed water to the pilgrims on 6th December every year. This activity inculcates a sense of social responsibility among students. Through this activity, students also learn the importance of drinking water and its supply.
Report of “Workshop on Anti-Corruption Laws” (as part of observing Vigilance Awareness Week 2019)

As part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 that was observed this year from 28th October to 2nd November, we at Navinchandra Mehta Institute of Technology and Development (NMITD), in association with Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB, Maharashtra) organized a one-day workshop to create awareness among students and faculty members regarding the existing Anti-Corruption Laws and their scope and applicability as related to public servants and govt officers involved in various sectors of state and central level departments.
Objective of the workshop:
- Create awareness among students and faculty members regarding the existing Anti-Corruption Laws.
- Create awareness about scope and applicability of Anti-Corruption Laws in public and government sectors among students and faculties.
Outcome of the workshop:
Mr. L. M. Karde, Senior Advocate with more than 55 years’ experience in dealing with legal issues related to corruption matters and Mr M. N. Mugutrao, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACB Mumbai Range were the expert resource persons for the session.
Advocate Karde shed light on the evolution of Anti-Corruption Laws in India right from the pre-independence era ‘Prevention of Corruption Act 1947’ (which came in force on 11 March 1947), to the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (it made some punishments more stringent) upto the most recent ‘Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act 2018 (which came in force on 26th July 2018). The session was conducted in a lively and interactive manner. From his vast experience Advocate Karde shared interesting real anti-corruption cases, to highlight the pitfalls involved in proving the case, the existing conviction rates, the various loop-holes that are exploited for aquital and other matters. He emphasized the role of three critical factors in such cases: 1) the involvement of investigating officer 2) the nature of judge (he characterized judges into three broad categories as: punishing judges, aquitting judges appreciating judges) and 3) the public prosecutor running the case.
Mr M. N. Mugutrao, Asst Commr of Police ACB, shared with the audiences the nature of working of ACB Maharashtra in handling the corruption cases right from when they receive such complaints to the point of conviction. He explained the protocol followed to verify and validate the claims before filing the case to avoid unnecessary harrasment due to possibility of false cases filed with the intention to malign someone. The various contact channels and social media details for contacting ACB for filing corruption complaints were shared with the participants.
Introduction and Vote-of-Thanks was delivered by Ms Renuka Sawant, Asst. Prof, MMS Department. Together around 60 participants including MCA/MMS students and faculty members attended the workshop.

Report on “Siddhivinayak Temple- Crowd Management 2019-20”
Name of the Activity: Shree Siddhivinayak Temple- Crowd Management.

Outcome of the event:
The Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shri Ganesh. It is located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, Maharashtra. On certain auspicious days called Angarika Chaturthi (Sankashti chaturthi comes on Tuesdays) thousands of pilgrims from across India come for his blessings. As a special initiative, students volunteer, under the guidance of Prof. Sugam Chaubal, conduct crowd management and queue management of these pilgrims so the pilgrims are able to take the blessings of the Lord. Through this initiative students learned about queue management, traffic discipline, planning and coordinating crowds and their social responsibilities as well.

Outcome of the event:
Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most popular public festival celebrated all over Maharashtra. Especially in Mumbai it is very popular. This is 10 days celebration where the Ganesh clay Idol is either brought home or in a pandal and is worshipped for 10 days. At the end of 10 days, On the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, it is immersed in the sea. Since DES’s NMITD is situated near the Shivaji Park, Dadar Beach, most of the Ganesh Idols from the nearby homes, pandals come for immersion. As a special initiative, student volunteers distribute drinking water to the pilgrims on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi. This activity inculcates a sense of social responsibility among students. Through this activity, students also learn the importance of drinking water and its supply.

The one day workshop titled “Heal Your Life” for the teaching staff of DES’s NMITD was conducted at their premises to facilitate inner journey & outer manifestation in areas of relationship & change management. This workshop was carefully crafted with personal development tools like reflection exercises, videos, meditations, visualizations, and affirmations. These tools helped participants uncover layers of past conditioning, identify limiting beliefs and release behaviors caused by lack of self-esteem.

NMITD’s Participates to Spread Awareness on Vehicular Pollution on 2nd June 2019

- Spreading the awareness about harmful effects of vehicular pollution.
- Spreading the awareness about how cycling is beneficial for environment and for a good health

Outcome of the event:
Kirti College and NMITD staff members and students participated in the Cycle rally and Environment Walk event titled “Green Smiles” organized in association with NGOs “आम्ही उद्योगिनी प्रगिष्ठान’ व ‘आपलं माणूस’ on 2nd June 2019 at Shivaji Park for “spreading the awareness about the harmful effects of vehicular pollution and to start a journey towards green and clean future”. The cycling event started with warm-up at Narli Baugh at 6:30 am. The cycle rally began at 7:15 am. The rally went up to Bengal Chemicals, Worli and came back to Shivaji Park. Lot of other citizens had joined the rally. Through this activity students and citizens understands the benefits of cycling which can help to reduce vehicular pollution and it is good for health also.
NMITDian’s Beach Cleaning Activity 2018

- Clean the beach.
- Spreading the awareness about marine pollution.
- Spreading the awareness regarding the impact of litter on our beaches.

Outcome of the event:
Most of us are armchair environmentalists but NMITD guys are walking their talk! 30 MCA and MMS Students of NMITD along with Faculty Members went to the Mahim Beach near Hinduja Hospital to work along with United Way Mumbai to volunteer for Mahim Beach Clean Up. United Way Mumbai’s Team ably guided the student volunteers along with 6 experts from DOW chemicals who had come from USA. This activity was also supported by Solid Waste Management, MCGM, MCGM G/North Ward and our community partners, Mahim Beach Clean Up. Through this activity, students learn how reducing litter on our coastal zones will prevent marine pollution.
“The Challenges of Indian Naxalism” Seminar 2018-19
Name of the Activity: Seminar on “The Challenges of Indian Naxalism”

Stakeholders for whom the activity was conducted: MCA/MMS Students and Teaching/Non-Teaching Staff.
Number of participants: 70 students and 20 staff members.
Outcome of the event:
A seminar on “The Challenges of Naxalism” was conducted at NMITD on 1st Mach 2019 in association with Kirti College. The talk was given by Ms Smita Gaikwad, a former Indian Army Captain and an expert on Maoism. Captain Smita Gaikwad is also associated with Forum for Integrated National Security (FINS) in Mumbai as a Research Scholar.
In her engaging talk Capt Smita Gaikwad said that the Maoists were ranked at par with the deadly terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda and Taliban. She highlighted how they do not allow any development in remote areas of Bastar in Chattisgarh and Gadchiroli in Maharashtra. She also propounded a view of Urban Naxalism as not being an imaginary concept and but one that has been in existence over the years, and thus should be taken with due seriousness. According to her many intellectuals sympathetic to extreme left philosophies, particularly Maoism, work extensively in cities as an urban front of the Maoists who operate from the Jungles.
To tackle the menace of Naxalism she advocated a three-pronged strategy of encounter, development and surrender to be implemented in the areas afflicted with the Naxalbari movement. Overall, it was a thought-provoking lecture concluded with an interactive question/answering session with teachers and students of the institute.

- To generate awareness about financial literacy in local community which can help in financial planning.
- Educate the local community about the importance of financial stability.
- To make the local community financially self-sufficient.
Outcome of the event:
Financial literacy and financial stability are two key aspects of an efficient economy. Financial literacy enhances individuals’ ability to ensure economic security for their families. In India, on one hand, there is a need to reach out to lower income groups and economically weaker sections, and on the other, to millennial who are hyper-connected and require tailor-made financial products but have limited awareness of the possible financial solutions . According to a survey conducted by Standard & Poor’s, over 76% Indian adults lack basic financial literacy and they don’t understand the most basic and key financial concepts. At DES’s NMITD we serve the local community of students, housewives to watch them grow, wealthier. Annually the Institute holds a day workshop where PSU Banks, Mutual Funds, Broking Houses participate and give them training on Banking (including online) as well as investments in Mutual Funds, Stocks. Apart from educating the students and housewives about different aspects of Investments, they are also informed about Careers in Finance and the additional certification they should do. Such initiative spread awareness about social responsibilities among students and they can also educate local community about financial planning, stability and investments.

The said programme was organized by the Institute and conducted by Dr. Kasturi Naik. Job role stress has continued to grow in each and every field in Indian organizations today. Furthermore it’s highly important for the working professionals to be mentally and physically fit in order to groom the students into a better future. The said event helped to learn various stress management techniques by means of various activities and exercises. It helped staff members in understanding the importance and essence of work-life balance.

Outcome of the event:
Menstruation is a natural process. However, in most parts of the world, it remains a taboo and is rarely talked about. In fact many are unaware about the hygiene management to be followed during the same. The said session was conducted by Ms.Asmita Neve-Pawar. She is a practicing image consultant with over 12 years of experience and has expertly conducted various similar sessions. The said session was very informative and educative in terms of gynaecological hygiene. The students were highly enthusiastic and a lot of their misunderstandings about the process of menstruation were solved and addressed.

Objectives of the event:
- Introduction of classical dance form of India- Kathak
- How to manage work life balance.
- Introduction of simple footwork which can be helpful for proper blood circulation in lower limb.
- Introduction of graceful postures of Kathak .
Outcome of the event:
On the International Women’s Day, 8th March,2018, the ladies wing, organized a half day workshop on “Dancing to your Rhythm”, to beat the daily pressure of work, family responsibilities and focus on the multi-faceted aspects of the life of a woman – the various roles she plays, Powerful yet soft, Strong yet delicate, creative yet strategic, Saraswathi and Durga; All this and more was brought out in the workshop, where both the teaching and non-teaching women of DES’s NMITD participated ; First she showed some ways to do exercise, while doing daily routine work, like Drishti Bhed, Shiro Bhed, Greeva Bhed; After this a short lesson in footwork, graceful movements was introduced and finally a short introduction to the origin of the graceful, charming and mesmerizing, classical dance form of India – Kathak was given. The conception, the session and the narration, was curated, by one of the accomplished Kathak Dancer and Tutor, Director of Nrityankur, Nritya Visharad, Ms. Apeksha Gaje, who is working in DES’s NMITD as an Assistant Professor, in the MCA Department. Through this workshop, all women realized how Kathak can help them in routine life mental and physical exercise.
