MCA Semester IV Orientation & Research Paper Writing Workshop

The Department of MCA at DES’s NMITD commenced Semester IV with an enriching Orientation Programme and Workshop on “A Practical Approach to Research Paper Writing for Beginners.” The session aimed to equip students with clarity, direction, and confidence as they embark on their research, project work, internships, and placement preparation.
The orientation was led by Dr. Rasika Mallya, Director In-Charge, DES’s NMITD and Life Member of DES, along with Dr. Swapnali Mahadik, Assistant Professor (MCA) and IQAC Coordinator. They motivated students to approach their final semester with focus, discipline, and a research-oriented mindset. Emphasis was laid on academic integrity, structured learning, and the importance of continuous upskilling in today’s dynamic technological landscape.
Technical Writing & Research Paper Workshop
The workshop provided students with a practical understanding of:
- Fundamentals of technical writing
- Structure and formatting of research papers
- Selection of relevant research domains
- Identifying research gaps and framing problem statements
- Importance of literature review and proper referencing
The speakers highlighted how systematic research, critical analysis, and effective documentation contribute significantly to academic excellence and long-term professional growth.
Placement & Internship Guidance
A dedicated segment on placement and internship readiness was conducted by Dr. Ruchi Gupta, who guided students on preparing for campus recruitment processes, building strong resumes, enhancing technical proficiency, and developing essential soft skills. She emphasized the importance of internships as a stepping stone toward full-time opportunities and encouraged students to engage in hands-on projects, certifications, and continuous skill development to stay competitive.
The session was interactive and thought-provoking, encouraging students to think critically, explore innovative ideas, and prepare themselves for meaningful research contributions and successful career opportunities.
The programme concluded on a highly motivating note, setting a strong academic and professional tone for Semester IV and reaffirming NMITD’s commitment to research-driven and industry-aligned education.
